Board of Directors Spotlight

Meet the REALTOR® members who volunteer to serve on our Board of Directors.

Katie Slater

Serving her first term as an NWIA director, Katie Slater has been around the real estate industry for nearly two decades. As co-owner of multiple business ventures with her husband Neil, Katie’s initial exposure to real estate prompted her to become a licensed agent in 2008 and a broker-associate in 2011.  She is the Broker/owner at NextHome at the Lakes, located in Spirit Lake, Iowa and NextHome TriState Realty based in Sioux City, Iowa.

Katie holds SFR designation and specializes in lakeshore properties and second homes in the Iowa Great Lakes. She has twice served as president of the Iowa Great Lakes Board of REALTORS® and was that association’s REALTOR® of the Year award winner in 2014. On the state level, Katie serves as the IAR Region 1 Regional Vice President, sits on the state RVP/Bylaws, YPN, Legislative and Personnel committees; she has also been an IAR delegate each of the last three years. Katie served on the National Association of REALTORS® Resort and Second Home Real Estate Committee in 2016 and will serve a second term on the Idea Exchange Council for Brokers for the National Association of REALTORS® in 2018.

A resident of the Iowa Great Lakes region for the past 20 years, Katie grew up just east of Sioux City in Correctionville and is excited to return to her roots as a member of NWIA. She is a devoted fan of the Iowa State Cyclones and enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Don’t See What You Need?

Why Hire A REALTOR®?

Real estate transactions involve one of the biggest financial investments most people experience in their lifetime.

IowaReal15 86 copyTransactions today usually exceed $100,000. If you had a $100,000 income tax problem, would you attempt to deal with it without the help of a CPA?If you had a $100,000 legal question, would you deal with it without the help of an attorney?

Considering the small upside cost and the large downside risk, it would be foolish to consider a deal in real estate without the professional assistance of a REALTOR®.

All real estate licensees are not the same. Only real estate licensees who are members of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® are properly called REALTORS®. They proudly display the REALTOR® logo on their business card or other marketing and sales literature.

REALTORS® are committed to treat all parties to a transaction honestly. REALTORS® subscribe to a strict code of ethics and are expected to maintain a higher level of knowledge of the process of buying and selling real estate. An independent survey reports that 84% of home buyers would use the same REALTOR® again.
